Meet Your Senator
by Kim Francis
Thursday February 15, 2007
On February 27 Senate’s Students for Students Scholarship Fund Committee will be holding its annual auction. In a recent email to the student body, the S.S.S.F. committee solicited donations fro the student-run auction, which dates back to 1958 and seeks to ‘enable future students to be a part of the uniqueness that is Sarah Lawrence College.”

What is your position on Senate, and why did you choose to run?
I’m a S.S.S.F. senator, as well as vice-chair of Senate. Being part of S.S.S.F. is something I’ve wanted to do for a while now. It’s nice to be a part of a group that has a positive effect on the future generations of S.L.C. students. Plus, S.S.S.F. is in charge of a lot of fun stuff that Senate does.
What to you like best about being part of S.S.S.F.?
I like the whole planning fundraisers part. It tends to be a lot of phone calls and letter writing and begging for donations at the beginning, but our end products are pretty awesome and really worth the work.
What aspects of any other committees, if any, do you envy?
I guess you could say I envy the curriculum committee representatives. They really get to have a voice in what courses are offered year to year. I think its pretty amazing that we have students who are right in the action and able to make suggestions, as well as complaints, directly to the people who make the decision.
