by Lauren Brierly
Wednesday April 4, 2007
Position:
Starboard, stern pair (seat three)
Biggest Crew Accomplishment:
“My biggest accomplishment was participating in the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. That was crazy. It was an indoor regatta— people were yelling and cheering the whole time! I finished fourth in the collegiate lightweight women’s 2k race in eight minutes, 36 seconds, beating my best time by twelve seconds.”
Favorite Crew Memory:
“We were at the Fall Met Champs and, during the race, we passed NYU. It was amazing— we just kept gaining distance and ended up finishing second in our heat.”
Favorite Aspect of Crew:
“I haven’t ever really taken on physical challenges before, so crew is a good physical challenge for me. I hated gym class games and team sports, but I really enjoy crew.
Three Words to Describe Crew:
“Intense, fun, rewarding.”
Future Plans:
“At Sarah Lawrence, my concentrations are photography and the visual arts. Ultimately, I want to teach photography at the college or university level.”
Hero/Inspirational Figure:
“Cindy Sherman, a photographer.”
